What souvenirs should I bring home?
Our favorite souvenirs are the ones you can eat or drink, plus a few crafts worth packing, and what to leave behind.
Our favorites are the ones you can eat or drink:
- Coffee. Costa Rica grows some of the best in the world. Buy whole beans from a farm you visit, or a good brand from the supermarket.
- Chocolate, often from small local makers.
- Hand-painted crafts from Sarchí, the town famous for its painted oxcarts.
- Salsa Lizano, the mild brown sauce Costa Ricans put on almost everything.
Please skip anything made from shells, coral, feathers or wild animals.
