Can I take a domestic flight?
A short flight on a small plane can replace a long drive. Where SANSA and Green Airways fly, and two things to know before you go.
Yes, and on some trips it is the smart choice. A short flight on a small plane can replace a long drive, which matters most for the more remote corners of the country.
The main domestic airlines are SANSA and Green Airways. Between them they fly from San José and Liberia to places like Quepos (for Manuel Antonio), Drake Bay and Puerto Jiménez on the Osa Peninsula, Tortuguero, La Fortuna, Tamarindo and Nosara.
We book the flights for you as part of your trip, and we can arrange your ride from the airstrip to your hotel.
Two things to know:
- Luggage limits are strict on these small planes, much lower than on your international flight. See How much luggage can I take on a domestic flight? before you pack.
- Weather can delay small planes, so leave some room around a domestic flight rather than planning anything tight right after it.
